Back in December 2019, Profit Network Australia released an article called “The Real Power of Effective Networking” but is the information within this article still relevant in our current COVID-19 environment.
Basically the main contents of the article was that Networking was the solution and these benefits both buyers and sellers to solve the following:
Benefits of the solution for buyers:
• It provides guidance to make the decision-making process easier.
• It can dramatically reduce the time spent searching.
• It can equally reduce the potential risk of choosing the wrong supplier.
• It carries its own inherent guarantee of quality
• It is the foundation of how our society works
• It engenders trust in all who employ it.
Benefits of the solution for sellers:
• Lower cost lead generation
• Increased brand loyalty
• Works 24/7 at no cost
• Has the power to exponentially grow your business
• Creates a barrier to entry between you and your competitors
• Allows for better margins to be earned
Here at Profit Network Australia we believe that Networking can provide these solutions but what has fundamentally changed is how it is going to be delivered and the change in basis processes we use when networking such as shaking hands etc.
Mastering the art of business whilst engaging with like- minded people who share your passion for knowledge and the sharing of opportunity is still the underlaying fundamental statement for networking. However, Online Business Networking has become the new norm and it is widely believed to be the main method that will continue post COVID-19. Why? Due to factors such as this method does not have to have to adhere to COVID-19 restrictions that have to be implemented within a physical meeting environment, has no risk of cross contamination between attendees and is more convenient due to less travel etc.
However, there is starting to be a rise in the return to Physical Networking Groups and I myself am holding my first networking group meeting on the 6th July. One of the main reasons that people are wanting physical networking again is the social interaction – Physically being is a different environment with other people and being able to talk to each other face to face and the perception that this is the best way to build trust. The main problem that seems to be coming to light for the organiser of these physical networking events are pass venues are no longer willing or able to provide the space for the meeting, this is mainly due to their own operational problems should as lack of staff or/and unwilling to have group that could potentially be a source of community infection and see a return to lockdown.
Other elements have changed that were the fundamental keystones to networking and below is a list of these and a possible solution:
Shaking Hands Verbal Greeting
Giving Out Business Cards Taking a photo on your phone of the Card
Talking To Close Talk within Social Distancing Rule
Collecting You Name Badge Bring your own Name Badge
Physically Giving Things Out Email Vouchers etc
Overall, things about the way we business network will have changed but here at Profit Network Australia we still believe that effective networking is essential for all small businesses what ever form that it takes.
